Big Bore Heavy Duty Precision Lathes by Sharp Industries

The X series lathes are available with spindle bore of 6” 9” 12” and 14”, swing from 35” to 50” and Distance between centers from 60” to 200”. Double chucks are available as options.

Headstock is made out of high tensile strength (FC-30) Alloy Castings.
Thick casting wall, heavy internal ribbing, and tubular casting ensure high rigidity under heavy cutting conditions.
Hardened and Ground spindle is precision machined from a massive one-piece forging. The spindle is mounted on two high precision tapered roller bearings at the front and rear to take up the radial and axial load (three bearings on 6” spindle bore machines).
Spindle has electromagnetic brake and jog control.
Six way power feed and rapid traverse control the carriage, cross slide and the compound.
Powered compound enhances key-way cutting operations.
Compound can swivel 360 degrees to cut at any angle.
Built-in conduits house electrical wires, coolant pipes, lube lines and air lines (air lines allow hoses to be attached to the front of the carriage to blow chips).
All gears are hardened, ground, and mounted on bearings for ease of shifting.
Gearbox assembly is oil pump lubricated for smooth operation and quiet running.
Totally enclosed quick change feed gearbox allows easy selection of threads and feeds.
The bed is made from one massive solid casting that forms the bed ways and the base.
Induction hardened and precision ground – hardness exceeds 450B.
The additional bed way that supports the bottom of the apron is also hardened and ground (This design of multiple supports for carriage and apron greatly enhances the machine stability under large facing and turning operations).
